What if you could generate energy… from the sun and directly on your balcony?

Balcony power plants are small photovoltaic systems, usually consisting of two modules and an inverter, that can be installed very easily. That is why they are often referred to as “Plug&Play”. However, the power of such a plant must not exceed 799 W (inverter power).

How does it work?

The balcony power plant generates electricity from its solar modules and feeds it directly into the home’s electrical grid via a standard electrical outlet. The electricity generated can then be consumed directly in the home. The surplus is fed into the public electricity grid but is not remunerated.

What do I need to pay attention to?

Modules must be CE certified. A “Wieland” plug (a special socket with outwardly isolated contacts) is recommended for safety reasons. Electrical installation must comply with current safety standards. A differential circuit breaker must be installed in the circuit. To ensure that modules placed outside are not torn off in the event of a storm, and to avoid any risk of injury, they must be sufficiently fixed or screwed in place.

Is a balcony power plant profitable?

A balcony power plant can reduce your electricity costs. It is more profitable if you manage to consume the electricity it generates yourself. You can check in advance, for example on your electricity supplier’s customer portal whether your electricity base load is sufficient to consume the electricity generated.

Can I also benefit from subsidies for a balcony power plant?

To qualify for the Klimabonus, the installation of the balcony power plant must be carried out by a professional. The financial aid can amount up to 62.5% of the costs (excluding VAT), with a maximum of 1,562.5 €/kWp if the offer is signed between January 1st, 2023 and December 31st, 2023. The application form must be signed by the professional who installed the system!

Remich and Schengen continue to invest in environmental protection

Remich and Schengen continue to invest in the sewage system to improve water quality of the Moselle.

With the wastewater connections in Schengen almost complete, underground works in the Cité Buschland in Remich are in full swing. An underground storage facility is being built for the wastewater generated, which will then be transported to the Perl-Besch (D) wastewater treatment plant.

In cooperation and financial solidarity with the municipality of Schengen and the National Water Fund, the City of Remich will invest intensively in its sewage system in the coming years. Further sewers, storage basins and a central pumping station are being planned.

Working together! This is how we can save water.

Working together to save water!

  • Visit public pools. Avoid filling and refilling your private pools.
  • Wash your car in a car wash. Closed systems reuse water more than once.
  • Optimize the use of your washing machine. Run it only fully loaded.
  • Water as little as possible with drinking water. The lawn does not need to be watered because it recovers quickly. Water your beds and plants after sunset.
  • Avoid cleaning your outdoor surfaces with drinking water. Use drinking water sparingly.
  • Do not take long showers. A short shower is enough to freshen up.
