Climate and Biodiversity Day | 12.05.2024
When: Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Gewännchen School and Sports Center (8, rue des Champs)
Simultaneous translation into French and English is guaranteed.
In collaboration with the SIAS biological station, our municipality is committed to increasing pollen and nectar sources for pollinators in our villages.
This is why the college of aldermen has decided to support citizens in the ecological landscaping of their gardens and balconies. That’s why this year we are once again launching a campaign in cooperation with the SIAS, allowing you to enhance your garden aesthetically and ecologically and thus create a food source for pollinating insects.
We offer each household in Remich a pack of 6 plants to use around the house. To take part in this free action, please fill in the participation form and return it to the municipality of Remich at the latest by February 28, 2024.
The package is provided for free and must be planted on the requester’s own property. Perennials should preferably be planted in a sunny spot (you will receive a planting guide with information on the various perennials). A surface area of one square metre is required for the 6 perennials.
The perennials will be distributed in spring 2024.

Remich’s climate team is looking for motivated members.
The local climate team is tasked with the implementation of EEA (European Energy Award) measures and is a mandatory part of the climate pact, which the City of Remich joined in 2012. The climate team operates in the fields of climate change, energy, and mobility, carries out a self-assessment of the municipality’s energy and climate policy, and draws up an action program for the municipality.
This team consists of a climate advisor, political representatives, public officials, members of the municipal commissions, experts, business leaders, and interested citizens.

Balcony power plants are small photovoltaic systems, usually consisting of two modules and an inverter, that can be installed very easily. That is why they are often referred to as “Plug&Play”. However, the power of such a plant must not exceed 799 W (inverter power). The balcony power plant generates electricity from its solar modules and feeds it directly into the home’s electrical grid via a standard electrical outlet. The electricity generated can then be consumed directly in the home. The surplus is fed into the public electricity grid but is not remunerated.
Modules must be CE certified. A “Wieland” plug (a special socket with outwardly isolated contacts) is recommended for safety reasons. Electrical installation must comply with current safety standards. A differential circuit breaker must be installed in the circuit. To ensure that modules placed outside are not torn off in the event of a storm, and to avoid any risk of injury, they must be sufficiently fixed or screwed in place.
A balcony power plant can reduce your electricity costs. It is more profitable if you manage to consume the electricity it generates yourself. You can check in advance, for example on your electricity supplier’s customer portal whether your electricity base load is sufficient to consume the electricity generated.
To qualify for the Klimabonus, the installation of the balcony power plant must be carried out by a professional. The financial aid can amount up to 62.5% of the costs (excluding VAT), with a maximum of 1,562.5 €/kWp if the offer is signed between January 1st, 2023 and December 31st, 2023. The application form must be signed by the professional who installed the system!
